Nam-Om Community Enterprise Network has been growing a special variety of organic Hommali rice for generations.
This northeastern region of Thailand produces the world’s finest jasmine rice, superior in fragrance, flavor, and texture due to the fertile soil, climate, and seasonal rainfalls. The organic farm has adopted farming processes in which the land is carefully nurtured and cultivated to preserve its global atmosphere. The farm in Yasothon does not use any chemical fertilizer or synthetic substances on the organic rice.
Proceeds from the Organic Rice sales are used to acquire land, build schools for teaching basic skills and to give instruction on sustainable agriculture to under-privileged children in Thailand. By acquiring the knowledge of sustainable agriculture we can continue to grow the organic farming community. With the average daily wage of $10 per day in a poor agricultural economy, the sales from 50 thousand kilos of organic rice can have a significant impact on the economy of the local villages and towns. This project could help shape a brighter future for the entire country of Thailand.
